The updated rules, approved earlier this year by the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission, follow a wave of enforcement actions that resulted in four major Strip casinos paying a combined $32 million in AML-related fines.<\/p>\n

Among the biggest concerns is a regulation that will prohibit business entities from funding patron deposits, front money accounts, or casino credit lines. The investigations also led to bookmakers Wayne Nix and Matthew Bowyer being added to Nevada\u2019s so-called \u201cBlack Book,\u201d formally excluding them from licensed casinos in the state.<\/p>\n

Regulators say the new rules are intended to increase accountability and strengthen source-of-funds verification procedures across the industry.<\/p>\n

Under the revised framework, casino compliance officers responsible for AML programs must now be formally licensed or approved by regulators. Casinos are also required to notify the Gaming Control Board whenever an employee is terminated for intentional AML violations, a move designed to prevent problematic employees from moving between properties undetected.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Fontainebleau Las Vegas said it is preparing for year-round AML audits and closely monitoring federal enforcement actions to adapt internal procedures quickly as new guidance emerges.<\/p>\n

At Wynn Resorts, AML officer Eric Akiyama revealed that the company recently banned a gambler who had reportedly lost $26 million after concerns emerged during the source-of-funds review process.<\/p>\n
